I am a 70 year old woman who has never had a worse dental experience than my time at Jacksonville Complete Dentistry. My dentist, Wayne Barker spent no time with me explaining a treatment plan. I was told I had a fractured tooth and it needed to be extracted. During the extraction, Wayne Barker damaged a healthy tooth next to the fractured tooth and had to remove it as well. I also had a two tooth bridge removed and was left with a 4 tooth gap. I tried to explain to Wayne Barker that I had several health issues that were contraindicated for tooth implants. I am over 70, I have plaque psoriasis, I had a gum infection from the fractured tooth, and I have osteoarthritis. He discounted what I said and told me if I didn’t get bone grafts that day, I would limit my options. I felt bullied into this procedure. I asked to have gas and he said it would take an extra 20 minutes and he was already behind his schedule. During his rushed schedule, he broke a healthy tooth next to the tooth that was fractured. Again. I was left with a 4 tooth gap. I thought it might behoove me to have a partial plate, but I wasn’t given that option. I was told that I would get a temporary partial plate after 3 weeks. This would coincide with my stitches removal. At my 3 week appointment, I was told a partial plate wasn’t ordered. I was beyond upset because I called the office to ensure this was happening because I had an important social gathering that evening. The staff at Jacksonville Complete Dentistry, other than Wayne Barker have been very helpful and caring. I am a veteran and Jacksonville Complete Dentistry has a contract with the VA. I have seen the astronomical bills that have been submitted to the VA and have been paid. I hope someone will look into this and ensure others do not have a similar experience.

My experience at this office left me feeling uncomfortable and concerned about billing transparency and communication. During my first of two cleaning appointments, I was told I owed $151 for cleaning on one side. After questioning the charge, the amount was reduced to $118 for both sides. This sudden change created confusion and made me question the accuracy of the billing. I was also told ahead of time that my cleaning would be split into two visits because numbing would be required. However, once seated for treatment, I was asked whether I wanted numbing, which contradicted what had previously been explained. Due to these inconsistencies and lack of clarity, I chose to cancel the appointment. I believe patients deserve clear communication, consistent treatment planning, and accurate billing from the start.

I have heard that this Dentistry is outstanding.. I filled out a form on line..The E mails, Tex’s that I received were almost every day…I was really going to make an appointment. But I explained I would contact them when I was ready.. That did not matter with this company.. Every day a phone call or text they would send me. RESULT I’M NOT INTERESTED !

I scheduled a cleaning over the phone, but when I came in, I was given an exam. I was told afterwards that a cleaning can only be administered after the exam, but they didn't have an actual cleaning appointment scheduled for me once the exam was over, even though that's what I came in to get. After I paid, Gabriela was incredibly rude when I asked her to email me the results of my exam, and had me leave before sending everything so that she could attend to another patient. If you need documents sent over, ask for them before you pay. I don't recommend coming here as this office doesn't communicate its requirements properly to new patients.

Scam artists! Went in for my annual cleaning that should covered by insurance at 100%. They say now I owe them money and when I asked then about it, Daniella from “billing” said they over charge the insurance companies to see what they can get them to pay and then pick and choose what amount left over they decide to write off and what they want to bill the customer.

I've been a patient here for 7 years... don't let them fool you. Everything is peachy until you actually are in pain and need to get in to see them. That's when they don't have availability and don't even make the attempt to get you in when you are in SEVERE pain! Not even after pleading and being placed on hold did they make time. Totally unacceptable and this is truly not good customer service or member retention. Very disappointing! Not the only practice in town.

I went through the comments that multiple prior patients share my experience. It took several months to figure out that the treatment was not covered by insurance. I contacted the insurance company and they said the claims were submitted multiple times but only appealed once. Letter of necessity was not provided. I brought it up with the billing manager and office manager. Both gave contradicted statements from the documents provided by insurance company. I feel they do not want you to know that you have to pay out of pocket early on even they know likely it will be denied(per Aetna, deep cleaning has high denial rate). In this case you will keep getting multiple treatments so they can charge you out of pocket later on. It seems to be a pattern. Please everyone who is victim to their practice should report of board of dentistry so we have more cases against them.

I’ve been paying for a treatment plan that could no longer work for me so Dr Wayne Barker and his staff came up with a different treatment plan which seemed logical and in return that left me to receive a refund do to my over payment from the initial treatment plan once my treatment ended and their was nothing else they could do I was told I will not be receiving a refund as per Ashley, Daniellea and Dr Barker. Which left me in a financial ruin and to add insult to injury my finish product wasn’t done correctly If it was up to me they wouldn’t even get one star.

These people are fraud. We have High Option PPO GEHA(CIGNA) Dental Insurance. They didn't tell us that they are out of network before all those expensive xrays, checkup. Once that is done they said we are out of network. These are scams . Not sure how much will we end up paying for nothing.

My mom got all her teeth pulled from here back in July and was told to get upper complete denture done when they didn’t even try to save her teeth.. like what ? Where is the patient care to our community or for another solution to get flexibly base upper denture or partial for her when they did pulled her teeth and gave her dentures the same day they told her to wait till the she heal to do a soft adjustment then later on when her healing went away she noticed that her dentures was still not looking natural or normal to her satisfaction and the dr. Bradberry told her it’s nothing he can do about he look very young and does look like he know about dentures at all . I highly recommend a place that care for they patients needs and appearances that it what the dental field is mostly about needles to say Maggie the dental assistant was very helpful and was patience with my mom I just want my mom to be able to smile again. Highly do not recommend this place no patient care was thought of .

If it's an emergency and you need help at first visit, you WILL NOT get the tooth taken care of even though when I called and specifically asked while making the appointment, they assured me that it would be. Instead I was run through x-rays and a barrage of photographs of my teeth, then the doctor visited for 5 minutes then stated I had two options and those would be explained to "be on my way out." End of visit. Since extraction was one option and could have been done that day, and I had anticipated $400-500 (no insurance, on medicare) I simply wanted the price for both options and then something done about my tooth. I would NEVER go back, I left feeling like a foolish senior citizen who had been taken in by false advertising. Ridiculous place.

Absolutely the worst dentist i have ever been to. They lied straight to me over the phone and treated me like dirt in person. There is no way their other reviews are true.

This office has no empathy for peoples lives. I had been placed on a "same day" follow up status where I would have to call in to "see if there was an available appointment" every. single. day to see if there was a time slot to get seen! First off, I don't think thats professional at all especially being in a medical field. Are you kidding me?! I missed my one appointment because my father died and had to fly home for that and I missed my second appointment because I contracted Covid (probably from the flight) and was running a fever. I aplogize that calling in to my dental appointment was not top of my priorty list, I guess next time I'll just come in sick and get very else sick! I'll say this, I lived in San Diego and had the same dentist for over 10 years before moving to Jacksonville and on the rare occasion that "LIFE" actually did happen and I couldn't make it, they were more than understanding. Franky and Bonnie on the phone SEEMED to be understanding of my situation but must not have heard the words coming out of my mouth when I said It was beyond my control. Very dissapointing office and would not recommend this office to anyone who wants to feel like their dentist have their back or continue a long term relationship. Service wise: I felt like another customer anytime I DID go in there. It was like a numbers game to them, just another client which might be the reason why they could care less about losing my business. Oh well, Good riddance.

UPDATE: Luckily I went back to the VA to show them the work they paid for. They sent me to another dentist and I used Private insurance for another, 3rd opinion. Both dentists were concerned that a replaced crown was very thin and needed to be "watched" especially when anything eaten sticks to it. I can see the original metal filling through the crown and I was told that the "margins", the space from gumline to crown is NOT supposed to have a gap. Great, the possibility to have to get a root Canal on the tooth due to trauma from having to "fix" what was done. 6 months later and tooth not 100%. Original crown lasted 19 years before porcelain cracked. The upsale: Private insurance exam in June 2021 and exam at VA in July had a certain tooth with no issues. After initial appointment here, that tooth magically had a cracked filling...and they were pushing to get as much out of the VA as possible. It's horrendous. I say again, if VA send you as a veteran to this dentist, research and go elsewhere. This may be my experience but if just 1 veteran is given subpar treatment, it is 1 too many. If you are a Veteran and referred here, don't bother. They not only up sell you on things that were not a problem, if you receive any items, they are of the lowest quality made. You leave in a worse condition. Their temporary crowns are made of some sort of paste that dissolves and don't last 2 days, let alone 3 weeks. And they charge VA extreme prices for below standards services and crowns. They display their dislike which is unprofessional to say the least when you don't want all the extras. Now I am being referred elsewhere to fix what Dr Johnson did. A pure waste of VAs money and 3 months of my time. Community care should not send veterans to them. They definitely deserve better care and treatment.

The most unorganized and disrespectful receptionist’s I have ever met. They make a 700 dollar mistake on their end and act like it’s your fault and expect most of it up front and act like they are doing you a favor but not asking for the whole payment when they made the mistake.

Complete waste of time and money. Greedy and unhappy doctor. Didn't want to treat hurting patient unless we agree to treat all teeth only in his office. Very diasppointed.

Absolutely do not recommend! Multiple people in my family have tried coming here for different things and every time there has been an issue. My mother had a crown placed and it fell out in less than a month! Her last one lasted years. My sister had a broken tooth fixed and the enamel they placed was crooked- when my mom asked them to fix it, the dentist was hostile and refused to acknowledge the tooth was CROOKED and slanted across the bottom, she "fixed" it with a fill and it broke off a few days later while she was showering. My dad also had a fill that wasn't done well. I went to see them for Clear Correct (there offering of Invisalign) and although I only needed 5 months worth of aligners, the only option they gave me was the much more expensive unlimited plan- not mentioning the others. the ladies at the desk are usually helpful but other than that- don't go here!

Two days before the appointment I called to ask them if they wear face masks, and they said:'Yes.'' But, the lady at the desk had a face mask with her nose sticking out, and Dr. barker wasn't wearing one. When I asked why he didn't have one. He answered;" you don't have one either.' I went there with the mask on. The only reason I did not have one at that moment it was because they were checking my mouth. His arrogant answer was a provocative insult, and his behavior with that smirk on his face was very disrespectful, and unprofessional. And, when we were talking about why he wasn't wearing a mask, he gave me that attitude of superiority like who am I to question his practices. Your degree doesn't make you a better person, or better than anyone else if your passion is just to make money and have no consideration for your patients. His behavior towards me was demeaning and spiteful. Now, I know some people don't believe in face masks, but I do expect that people wear them in a medical facilities and especially because I asked them prior the appointment.Unfortunately, we live in a world were life is cheap, humans have no values, and it gets worse each year. There's not respect, empathy, and compassion.

Called to get an estimate for a crown. Woman on the phone did everything g she could to detour me from getting work done there even though it was an emergency situation. Refused to get a quote from my insurance without a letter from the orthodontist faxed old school to them of the urgency of getting a crown placed on my root canal tooth. Finding another place.

I have read so many outstanding reviews on this office. However my experience has been mortifying. I was referred in to get veneers due to my anxiety causing me to grind therefore leaving my two front teeth chipped. I was so relieved to finally get the approval for veneers. I was nervous as it was with the process. I was fitted with temporary veneers so that I could get a feel on how my real veneers would look. The color was completely wrong. Now I know they are only temporaries but the office needs to have all possible tooth colors. My teeth are pretty white. And the excuse I received was most people’s teeth aren’t as white. I went home and my husband was literally mortified. Did good reason. It affirmed the anxieties I had leaving the office. It looked as if I was wearing a prosthetic. Dull, off colored, and bulky. I was in tears. They were able to get me back in and attempted to lighten them with a little luck. I was told my veneers would certainly be expedited. They were able to stave off a few days. Yesterday my husband took me to a lovely late lunch at a beautiful restaurant on the water. As I’m attempting to eat my food the whole temporary falls off my mouth and into my plate. I jumped out of my seat (so upset and nearly crying again) go into the bathroom and look at my mouth in horror. We couldn’t even stay. I called the emergency line. No answer. Then tried to leave a voicemail. It’s full! So I call again. Finally a lady answers and I told her what happened. She advised me to go to the drug store and purchase bonding cement. Well I go to two locations (walgreen and cvs) they don’t carry it. I bought what they did have and neither work! Today I have a volunteer event that o face been looking forward to for months. I cannot go. Not with these temporaries now looking extremely discolored (due to the bonding) and bulky and not even secure. My question is why would you not carry the correct color for patients like me? The dentist is scary enough. And now I wish I had never messed with my teeth. If anyone who has gotten veneers seen their teeth without anything it’s so terrible. I’m crying typing this only because I have not had such a bad experience at a dental and medical facility. Now I’m stuck with seeing it through. I’m sure these things are “normal” for the dental office to hear but when you are the person dealing with it, it’s not the same. I’m going in tomorrow first thing in the morning, (again more time off from work) and getting them reattached. I don’t even want go in but I have no choice. I really cannot wait for this to be over. Sigh.

I guess the appointment was fine, not sure, I was not awake for it. With that, they let me leave there not even able to walk. Didn't even check up on me or give me any discharge papers of any kind. I can't remember half of that day and they just let me go.

Nice office, good looking staff, a perfect front for the poor skill and knowledge that awaits you if you need to do anything involving more than a cleaning. The Crown they put for me and refused to replace at my request is already feeling like it wants to break off, I think he ground the hell out of my tooth, and I know he ground the hell out of my new and used-to-be perfectly shaped crown done by Dr. Rose. He knew he messed it up because he tolled me that my tooth is more likely to break than the crown, I guess so, when he grinds the living daylights out of it. Due to my experience I absolutely don't recommend Dr. Barker
